The debut HXDK full length album
''The Letting Go" is now available on my newly minted imprint HigherBeingsCommand on Bandcamp. It's a release I'm very proud of and it documents a time in my life when I was dealing with some very emotional issues and how I used creating this album to work my way through my grief and frustration - symbolically burning the bridges that connected me to that state of mind (hence the artwork and track titles)  and moving on with my life...

Heavy stuff, I know! ;-) But rest assured I have gotten that out of my system and am currently working on some new material which is more (comparatively) cheerful...  anyway, I hope you like it!

I have recently joined the Disquiet Junto group on Soundcloud curated by Marc Weidenbaum of the excellent Disquiet webzine, which for many years has been an invaluable online resource of experimental music.  As explained on the groups info page: "The Disquiet Junto is a group based on Soundcloud.com where musicians respond to regularly scheduled, fast-turnaround assignments to compose, record, and share new music. The idea is to use restraints as a springboard for creativity. A project is announced each Thursday evening, and it is due the following Monday by 11:59pm (that's 11:59pm wherever you happen to be) ."   I am finding the process to be really exciting as it requires me to work quickly to a short deadline (no time to procrastinate or overthink things until it ruins your initial idea, more of a challenge to do the best you can within the given timeframe ) so with that in mind I gave it a try, and came up with the tracks which you can listen to and download below. New tracks will be added to this post every time I complete a project...

I also have to say the experience so far  has been an extremely positive one for me personally as the group is made up of a very amazing and talented bunch of people, each with their own unique creative approaches to sound who have come together under this forum to work on interesting sonic projects and to share them publicly for others to listen and discuss the process of how and why  they created these pieces. In my opinion probably the most wonderful thing of all about this group is the amount of  support , encouragement  and respect they have shown to each other through their comments and discussions - it truly makes me feel honoured to be able to contribute my work and receive constructive feedback from people who have taken the time to listen and think about what they hear and also to do likewise for them - to hear such a diverse range of sounds / ideas and discuss the processes behind them is an invaluable and ongoing learning experience for  those willing to put their ego aside and interact in a constructive and positive manner on an equal basis with their peers . It is also a great way of finding out about artists you may not have heard of who are doing some fantastic work worthy of your attention - I have made some great discoveries already and will definitely be seeking out their releases and showing my support however I can!  I hope to continue to participate in as many of the projects from this group when time/opportunities permit and I highly, highly recommend it to other artists to join in and get involved as it is definitely a great motivational tool and most importantly - a lot of fun!

Well, 2011 is nearing its end and its been a strange year for me personally... not always great but certainly enlightening in one way or another ;-)  so as a result I didn't release a great deal of things but nonetheless occasionally managed to start working on some new material which will hopefully see the light of day early next year...  what i did get done was a couple of remixes and compilation tracks , both of which i would like to do more of in the coming year if anyone will have me ;-) so hit me up at hexadeka@gmail.com  and make me an offer I can't refuse! ;-) This also goes for any labels out there who would like me to do a release or artists (musical or otherwise) that want to collaborate or do a split or whatever... i'm always keen to make new friends and do something fun!

But yeah anyway I have a few plans up my sleeve in the near future including releasing the aforementioned new material (a full length and EP are both in the works) as well as finally launching my own personal label/shop with downloads & physical formats for purchase (in the meantime there is a donate button on the free downloads page so if you're feeling generous it would really be a big help in getting these plans happening and I will  gratefully send you something special in return) and lastly I will start paying more attention to this page in regards to keeping you informed on  updates and other news as well as design and content. So, in closing, I would like to say thanks to all of you who have downloaded my stuff, contacted me and said nice things, collaborated or assisted me with projects (both public and private) and/or generally inspired me in some form or another - you have my respect, love and eternal gratitude. I wish you all the best in the forthcoming year ... hope to see you then!

I have just completed a remix for Brisbane industrial  electronic artist Distaudio which is featured on the No Control EP along with six more remixes contributed  by some  fantastic artists who have all put their individual sonic stamp on  the  material. It is now available for a pay what you like download . All proceeds from the sale of this EP will be donated to the Japanese earthquake relief fund.

This release of course comes highly recommended as does the original  album   Milieu Control  which is available for purchase in both digital download and cd format or by several special package deals with extra goodies direct from the artist -  so by all means support good music and check both of these wonderful releases out!
